Oil Paintings (main site) Photography (retired) Watercolor Paintings
Formerly a world-renowned wedding and boudoir photographer, Corey McNabb turned his attention a different medium in the arts. With a change from photography to palette-knife oils and acrylics, McNabb now creates imagery from a blank canvas. He describes the difference like looking vs. seeing. "With photography, one must look over a scene and determine which aspects to shoot, and how best he or she can capture the image desired. With painting, the canvas is completely blank and one must see the image in his or her mind before paint meets canvas. Conveying emotions and feelings becomes adventures in texture, light, and composition." Corey McNabb specializes in oils and acrylics applied to a canvas with a palette knife. He's known for big, bold, bright impressionistic paintings and has won numerous awards for such. McNabb operates a gallery and studio in Asheville's famed River Arts District and travels to exhibit in art festivals nationwide. He's also proficient in watercolors, but paints those more for personal pleasure.
